I feel fat...?!


Question: So.. bascially I feel fat.. and I exercise every day for two hrs... I'm a female (age 16) and 5'8", weigh 135 lbs and I'm trying to get between 115-120... my friends all tell me that i'm stick thin, but I don't belive them... At times I feel happy with who I am, but then I have momments where I'd rather starve myself and not eat... what can I do to help myself feel better about myself? am I even considered skinny...?

My Girl! You are not fat! Not by any stretch of the word!! Search the internet for "Body Mass Index Calculator". This will tell you, scientifically that you are not fat. If you panic about your weight at this young age you will always panic. I understand its hard when everyone seems so glamourous and perfect, they're not. Plus, any man will tell you, and its taken me this long to hear it enough times to believe it, men much rather a bit of flesh. Honestly, bones are very unattractive to men. The most beautiful thing of all, despite size in confidence. Just love who you are no matter what and you will shimmer amongst your nervous, self destructive friends, and you my girl will be effevescent!

have a look through a magazine and check out the weights - if you really do think that seeing breastplate/ribs is more beautiful than a veluptous body allowing breasts and bum, take a 2nd, 3rd 4th look until you see that natural beauty is better than what your doing to yourself everyday to be something your not happy with anyway!

The other thing is, you may be suffering an image disorder. It is so common for girls of your age to suffer, especially with weight. maybe you could speak to someone who you will believe. Or start asking boys what they prefer to see. Trust me, its hips and booty and boobs. This way, you'll get your free time back. Maintain regular exercise and healthy varied diet - but life's for enjoying baby!

You are too thin already as it is. 135 at 5'8"? Believe me, you don't need to lose weight. And on top of that you're 16, your body is still changing.

you have a bmi of 20.5. So that's actually good. But I know what you mean. I have exactly the same BMI as you (I am 5'4" and 118 lbs). I feel really fat and I'm pretty much on a diet the whole time. But then I binge on chocolate and other snacks...
I just wouldn't recommend you to starve yourself because that will "break" your metabolism. You should try to accept yourself and find 3 body parts (it can be whatever your want: mines are my teeth, my stomach and my eyes) you really like on yourself and concentrate on them rather than on the ones you don't like. You should also try to work out. Maybe you could buy yourself a work out video? some are really cool. With sport you will lose some weight and gain a lot of muscle and you will look great and feel more comfortable in your skin.
That's what I would do/ what I'm going to (I had to stop working out because of a lot of stress in school and other not so great things happening in my life...)

Just be happy you're not me.... 5'9" 200lbs. It's not fun. I'm supposed to be no more than 160 for my height. So, I think you're already at your normal weight. If you go down to 115-120 you'll be considered underweight. Your BMI would be 18.2 and anything under 18.5 is considered underweight. Right now your BMI is 20.5 which is considered normal...the perfect weight. Anything under 125 for you would probably be considered underweight. So, don't lose too much or people may think you have an eating disorder or think you're unhealthy.

Please oh please do not feel fat. I am 12 nad weigh 127.5 lb, and I'm 5'4. I feel fat too, even though we both are'nt, in a middle school full of malonurished sixth graders whose legs are so this and their stomachs are too flat. I know, and deep down you do too, that you are BEAUTIFUL. Everyone is inside, and on the outside too. One big thing is you have too be happy with your body weight, or no one else will be either.
