I haven't started my period yet what do i do?!
Question: o.k. i am 12 years old, and i haven't started my period yet.My mom started hers when she was 14. Does having your period have anything to do with genetics, or do you start on your own time?

You are still young. Trust me, you do not want to be starting your period. It sucks terribly. Everyone is different, it is all on your body's time when you will begin. Generally you should wait till you are 18 before you go to the OB GYN to get hormone drugs to start your period.
There is nothing fun about "bleeding" from your crotch. It hurts, it makes you feel terrible, it lasts for a week, generally. Terrible, terrible...
Don't worry! You're lucky! My mom got hers at 16 (lucky) and i got mine at 12. When it comes, it comes! Let nature take its course, and have fun.
you'll probably start your period at 14 too b/c of your mom so it probably has to do with genetics a little. or maybe your body will start on its own time when it thinks it is ready. you should go see the doctor when your over 17, b/c that is the age when most grls have already had there period, and if you don't get it by then, you've got some problems on your hand
A whole lot of it has to do with genetics. Be grateful that you have not started yet. Many girls/women have very painful periods. If I was you, I would not worry until I was 15 and not started, especially if your mom started at 14. So if you do not start by then, go talk it over with doctor. Trust me, the girls that have already started probably wish that they were you!!!!!
be happy you don't have your period. its a pain in the butt! Enjoy it while you can.
