Yeast infection treatment?!

Question: soo i have a yeast infection, its pretty obvious but i dont want to go to the doctor. is there any way to just call up or go there and ask for slip to get diflucan? or do you have to be checked first? if i cant obtain diflucan this way without being checked, whats the best over the counter TREATMENT (not reliever) for yeast infections? do you suggest 1,3, or 7 day ones? i would love to do the 1 day one but is it effective?

Only a doctor can tell for sure if you have a yeast infection by taking a swab and run some tests. Most of us can sometimes tell by the feel, look, and smell that you have a yeast infection. If your symptoms don't match this list, or you are confused or uncertain, go see your doctor if at all possible.

It feels like an intense itching, burning sensation, localized in your vagina and vulva. This itching is not always present, but can get really bad, so bad you can hardly walk, let alone sit still or concentrate on anything.

It looks like clumpy white stuff. Most medical descriptions compare the discharge to ricotta cheese, but it can range from thick and not clumpy to faintly yellow to thin and clear.

It smells like bread or beer. In fact, it smells pretty much exactly like yeast.

There are other types of infections that can sometimes infect your vagina and vulva and it's helpful to know the symptoms of all of them so you can be really sure before you go treat yourself for a yeast infection you might not have.

A bacterial infection of the vagina can feel a lot like a yeast infection if the vulval area is itchy or painful. Unlike a yeast infection, the discharge can be dark yellow, green, or brown and it won't smell like bread, it can smell like fish or something rotting. If you think you might have a bacterial infection, or if you're not sure, get I would recommend going to see your doctor as this has to be treated with prescription antibiotics.

Urinary tract infections (UTI's) are due to bacteria infecting the urethra rather than the vagina. UTI's can be fairly easily distinguished from vaginal infections by a host of symptoms, including pain or burning when urinating, blood or mucus in urine, needing to urinate often, pain or pressure in back or lower abdomen and a fever or chills. If you think you might have a UTI, don't delay, go see your doctor, because the infection can travel up past the bladder, causing kidney damage.

Another type of infection called trichomoniasis is caused by a parasite that can infect both the vagina and the urinary tract, and is primarily sexually transmitted. If you have a trichomoniasis infection, your vagina can be itchy or painful, it can hurt to urinate, intercourse can be painful, and occasionally you can experience pain in your lower abdomen. Again, you have to see a doctor to get antibiotics to treat this.

I would recommend you see your doctor just to rule out any other infections and to get a proper diagnosis and proper treatment.

Good luck :)

I keep putting the word out there..............plain nonfat yogurt with no sugar added is the best and cheapest cure for a yeast infection. Used externally and internally as often as needed (I use it nightly internally and externally as needed for symptoms). About a teaspoon internally, then use a pantyliner and cotton panties... It melts, but it works so fast, most of the itching and burning is usually gone within a few hours. The external part is gone immediately most times. It usually takes only a couple, maybe three days to clear it up. It doesn't mess up your system like most medications do, but instead solved the problem with the yeast for a long time to come.
It really works..........just make sure to keep the yogurt clean...take only what you need into the bathroom with you in a small bowl.

Drink a lot of cranberry juice in 3 days. That will change your urine color but the yeast infection will be gone. But you should talk to a doctor to make sure it is yeast infection.

If you have the same kind of yeast infection I have the diflucion will not cure it. I used monastat vaginally/nystatan externally/and Diflucan oraly for a month, and I still only had one week of relief, then the itching started again just as bad as ever.
I have had this now for about 6 months. In 2006,I had to take a lot of antibiotics, for kidney infection, and 2 surgeries on my kidney. Well this can kill off all bacteria. Including the good bacteria that keeps the yeast in check. I just got PRO-BIOTIC today and am going to try it. I have a Dr.app.for 9AM in the morn.I have seen 3 Doctors now for this, and still no relief. I hope you can get some relief,I know how you feel for sure.

hold it!!! that's not a yeast infection. that's a bacterial infection. you don't get foul odors with a yeast infection. so be sure to get the right treatment for a bacterial infection (not yeast infection). besides when you have a yeast infection you do get itchy, irritated and even pain, but you said you don't have any of those symptoms, so obviously you don't have a yeast infection.

It sounds bacterial.

Don't believe the cranberry treatment. That's only for UTIs!!
