Mirena birth control... and sex?!
Question: I had my Mirena implanted one week ago. Out of curiosity, I felt for the strings... they are wires!!! My question is for all Mirena users that can feel their strings... do they hurt your partner? I am scared to have sex with my husband, he may get hurt on them!! I plan to ask my doctor when I go back, but wanted some 'real' answers!! Thanks! :-)

First of all, the strings will soften and wind up in a month or so. Don't worry, they don't always feel like that! My husband did get poked a few times. It wasn't too bad (not enough to deter or stop him). It certainly did get his attention, though.
My suggestion would be to manually push the strings up. Wrap them around your cervix (that is where they will end up eventually anyway). It only takes a few seconds and it works.
