I only have a period once a year?!

Question: I'm not much of an athlete, and I'm slim but not overly so. I don't really want to see a doctor, so... Any ideas?

Hi, it is quite common at your age not to get period regularly. But, I would still suggest you visit a doctor just to ensure everything is fine. This could be a hormonal imbalance or thyroid imbalance (a case of hyper thyroid) or a clear case of Amenorrhea. This is nothing but lack of ovulation where the egg is not released. A OBGYN is the best person who can help you here. And if you are scared of weird tests, do not worry they are very sweet and you just have to answer few questions. Hope this helps.

have you told your mom? you might want to get this checked out, doctors are terrific!

tell your mom to take you to a doctor but if its nothing serious! enjoy that.

you need to see a doctor to find out what is going on with your body,

your pretty normal, if thats what you get and how many times a yr. you get it. that's it. talk to your moms history she may have been the same way. I was like that since I was 9, yup 9!!! until I finally went on birth control to regulate it 2 yrs. ago.
