Birth control and period?!


Question: i started using birth control pills for the very first time and i took them for about 3 days and then stop after the third day, then 3 days later i started to spot and i think that went on for about 4 -5 days, and i was suppose to get my period on the 21 of Feb. but i haven't could this be anything with the birth control! i do have sex but i use protection!

It absolutely could be because of the birth control. If you're going to take them, you need to take them every day at the right time. Otherwise your body gets confused because of the changing hormone levels. The spotting is almost definitely a result of that, and the missed period could be too. If you use another method of birth control all the time, you're probably not pregnant.

If you intend to stay on birth control pills, get a fresh pack and start on the first Sunday after your next period starts. If you're not taking them anymore, I'm confused as to why. 3 days isn't long enough to know how your body would react to them.

If you stop taking the pills, you're going to start bleeding. You MUST take them every day, around the same time, in order for them to be effective.

There is also break through bleeding, which will happen with some pills. It is random bleeding, usually just spotting, that occurs when you are not in your period.

Yes. Birth control has hormones in it and if you only took it for 3 days then you have thrown your hormone balance out of proportion and it will take a while to get back on schedule.
