Has anyone had a Hysterosonography? Was it painful?!

Question: My girlfriend just had one yesterday. She wasn't advised what it involved, just was told she had to have a 'sonogram.' When she got there she was not warned that this was a very invasive, painful and non-medicated procedure. She said that she was actually screaming in pain while the procedure was being done!! Why do doctors DO this to people? Because if they know what is involved, they won't have the test done?
Just an FYI for anyone that needs to have this done:
1.) take ibuprophen before the test....3-4 of them, you'll need it
2.) take a xanex, ativan or valium so you can relax a little
3.) bring someone with you to drive you home, you'll be in so much pain, you won't be able to drive yourself.
This really ticks me off that my friend was "tricked" into thinking she'd just be having a regular sonogram (like when you're pregnant, externally and painfree,) and got there and was dialated, shot full of saline, cramping, biopsied and given a sonogram inside also!!!

I feel empathy for your friend. That must have been a very scary experience which could have been avoided. Sometimes I think doctors forget they are dealing with real people, not just a number on a file. They need to listen more, and to let their patients know exactly what is going on. I live in a community with an extremely high seniors population, and often feel I am rushed through because there are 20 people in the waiting room. And never forget, doctors do not know everything. Research, read and ask questions.
