For women who have an IUD or coil - can you feel it after it's fitted?!

Question: I'm trying to decide whether to get a non-hormonal coil fitted. On the one hand, no more pill hormones (yeyy) on the other hand, I'm worried that I will be able to feel it/be aware of it or be able to feel the strings. What's your experience? Do you find it comfortable? Do the strings ever come loose? Has anyone had one taken out due to not liking it?

1. You do not feel it as in feeling a foreign object, but your body might try getting rid of it during your first period after the insertion, so be prepared for a really heavy period (if you use the IUD).
2. My husband complained a few times that he could feel something there when we were having sex with deep penetration, so i worried he might have moved it, but it didn't.
You should be able to feel the string and check it once a month, so you know it has not moved out of place.
I found it fairly safe (if you are in a monogamous relationship), but i did have heavier periods. After taking it out you might feel a little bloated, but that's about it. And if you ever miss your period, be sure to check it is still in place. Though rare, there have been cases where it comes out and women don't notice.
