Well, since you're already having sex, there's not much I can say to deter you from doing it. I still think you're a bit young though.

Find a Planned Parenthood clinic. They may give you an exam, some may not depending on your status in their H.O.P.E program. go to www.plannedparenthood.com and locate a clinic near you. Your parents don't have to know anything, and if you tell them that you don't have insurance they will put you on a sliding fee scale (meaning you tell them about your financial situation and they decide how much you will pay). They can give you a wide range of birth control, pills, IUDs, Birth control shots (Depo-Provera) patches (ortho evra) and other stuff like that.

Like I said, it's all confidential with them.

But please continue using condoms... combined with birth control, you'll have a good chance of not getting pregnant.

if you are already having sex then that's the age. you already know that condoms aren't enough, you could use them with other stuff too, like a diaphragm. you should know though that there is no such thing as 100% safe, even with the pill.

Your mom soon enough will be your best friend so confiding in her sooner than later can really help you in the long run. But i've been there and i know how hard that can be. If you are having sex Take all your precautions, you need to be safe, and you need to make sure your not going to get pregnant while you are still young. Make an appt to go to planned parenthood(you might need someone over 18 to go with) and get on birth control find and aunt or somebody older that you can trust right now. Just be safe and be Smart!!! your already taking the first step in asking how to go about it.

You can go into any family planning or female health clinic. Although I didn't start using BC until I was 21, most of my friends began at 15 and 16. The family planning clinics are usually very discreet and keep everything confidential. Just check in the phone book and make an appointment. You absolutely don't need to involve your parents, but try to be very honest with the staff at the clinic. Many states, like CA, can set you up with free family planning and birth control. Good Luck!

Yep. You can do this all by yourself. The clinic you go to should also have a "no contact" policy so your parents wouldnt ever have to know. Just look up the local health department/ family planning in your area and ask to make an appointment. You will usually have to go through a routine gyn check up before they give you the pills. Just one thing... I believe that if you use your parents health insurance they will know about it. So most places if you are no contact they will ask you for your most recent pay check and if you make under a certain amount alot of times you dont even have to pay!

If you are having sex then there is no reason why you shouldn't be on the pill.

If you don't want to have your parents involved then head to your local planned parenthood or other similar clinic. They will help you anonymously.

I think once you start having sex is when you should start thinking about birth control. I started birth control when I was 16 years old. I went to my mom, thinking she would freak out, but she was totally understanding. Parents will surprise you. And if you are still scared, call your local Planned Parenthood, they will help you out a lot.

It doesn't matter your age! As long as your having sex, you need to be using protection. Take it from a 23 year old mother of a 6 year old! You don't need to be having babies at your age trust me! It's no picnic. If you are scared to ask your parents then yes you should go to your doctor. Don't be embarrassed about it either, if you are old enough and mature enough to be having sex you need to be responsible about too. There are usually planned parenthood places that you can go to for free birth control. That's if you don't want to go to your own doctor. Just in case you weren't sure, your doctor can't say anything to your parents about you going to them for BC, there is a doctor patient confidentiality that he or she cannot breach.

i'm having a similar issue right now.
tell your mom that your having really painful menstral cramps when you start your period, and ask her to take you to the doctor to get birth control. [because thats what i STARTED using it for] and they'll ask if you're sexually active and you can say no, but since you are 17, you want to have a good one that you can stay on for a long period of time even when you do start having sex..
so yeah.. that should help you. :]
& that's my plan as well.
