bush said they aren't able to "practice their love with women" or some such nonsense. meaning they aren't able to perform their practice, not that they weren't able to make love. obstetricians take care of pregnant women and deliver babies; gynecologists give pap smears and take care of a woman's overall female, sexual health.
obstetrician/gynecologist is what it's short for. It's the doctors that deliver babies and specialize in the female anatomy.
