How can I get rid of my cramps faster?!

Question: I get EXCRUCIATING cramps. My doc wrote me a prescription for "Ponstel" since Motrin 800mg didn't work (neither did pamprin, midol, ES Tylenol... nothing). That helps with some of the pain but doesn't really get rid of the achiness. Usually I take a really long hot bath and when I'm almost ready to get out I turn on a hot shower (the pressure from the spray feels good on my achy tummy and back) and when I'm done I use a heating pad. You can't really do much else at that time but at least it works. Also I've heard exercising, lots of water intake and cutting back on caffeine helps. Bananas (strange as it sounds) helps cut down PMS symptoms too. I wish I had a definate answer for you but everyone's different... hope my suggestions help you .

I think my girlfriend uses pamprin

A pain reliever like Ibuprofen or Midol will help ease the pain as will heating pads and warm baths.

Midol, heating pad. Eat bananas & doing some kind of excerise helps me.

Ibuprofen- advil, motrin

or take a nap

eat bananas!

Have sex, the endorphins are good for headaches and cramps.

Take some aleve.

Take a hot bath.

Exercise...I know it doesn't sound appealing when you're in pain, but it does help. That's why women are encouraged to walk when in labor.

i forgot who makes them, but they're little sticky heating pads that have mineral pouches in them..that heat up when body heat reaches them...they work wonders..try your grocery store!

well, what usually works for me is midol or advil.
they all pretty much work the same.

You're not ever going to get RID of your cramps - they'll stop cramping on their own - but there are many things you can do to alleviate the pain

You didn't specify what kind of cramps you mean - the general consensus on here was menstrual, and since this is women's health, pardon us for assuming.

We get cramps because our uterus is contracting (yes, just like in labour!) to get rid of the uterine lining - which obviously shows up as blood and tissue.

Uncomplicated exercises are great - like stretching, yoga, anything that works your core. It helps with the pain, and releases endorphins that help with mood swings.

Because everyone is different, however, different remedies are offered for different symptoms. What works for me isn't going to work for you necessarily.

The link below provides you with 12 different degrees of typical menstrual symptoms - read for yourself what best describes you, and which remedy they recommend.

Um i think sex would be a little messsy if u had ur period..but i hurd chocolate helps and also hot baths
