Questions about the pill?!

Question: So I just got a prescription for Alesse. It was prescribed for my skin, but I plan on using it as a contraceptive as well. I just need to know a few things...
1. When do I start taking it?
2. How long until it becomes effective?
3. What if my period doesn't come after the 21-day cycle is up? Do I use condoms again, or am I still protected?
4. What if, after the 7-day cycle is done, I'm still on my period? Do I wait until it's finished to start taking the pill again?
5. Am I fertile on my period during the 7-day cycle?

I would really appreciate answers. Thanks a lot!

Ok I will try to answer the best I can:
1. There are 2 different ways to start the pill. You can start the pill with your period, or the most common way is to start the pill the Sunday after your period starts (they pills will come with an instruction packet)
2. To be fully effective as a contraceptive is after you have been on the pill for 1 month
3. You should get your period the week you use the placebo pills, though you should always use a condom as back up, also the pill does NOT prevent STDS
4.You should only have your period during the days your on your placebo pills(sugar pills). Depending on your personal body you may not have your period the entire 7 days, though you should still finish the 7 days of placebo pills regardless.
5. No you are not fertile those 7 days of palacebo pills, but as I said you should always use a condom as back up. The pills are not 100% effective, especially if you miss a pill.

you start taking it either the 1st day of your period or the sunday of your period
it takes about a month for it to be fully effective
your period should come after the 21 day cycle if it doesn't call your dr either youre having side effects or youre pregnany.
If your period doesn't end after the 7 day cycle continue taking your pills as perscribed. Never skip a day ( as it can reduce the effectiveness of your pills)
you are not fertile on your period because you are not ovulating.
I hope that helps! You pill should come with instructions and information about your pill also your dr. is helpful!
Hope that helps!

Okay...I am on Alesse for birth control. I have also taken Ortho Tricyclen low. My doctor told me to wait a month before not having a backup plan for sex. You can start taking it after your period is over. My cycle is Wed to Wed. Take the pill even if your period is still going. My period has been shorter and lighter since been on Alesse. My boyfriend still comes inside me during the 7 day cycle. We don't have much sex during that time. However, your body still thinks you're pregnant.

Hope this helps.
