We women have 2 ovaries, so even if we were to lose one due to surgery to remove tumors, there would still be one and that's all we need to make a baby.

If there is a tumor, it could be determined that medication can reduce the tumor, or perhaps surgery might be recommended. Or, perhaps there is not tumor at all. I understand that you and your friend are worried, that's normal.

I know a woman who had an ovary removed and concieved 2 children. Again - we have two of them, that's all that is needed.

Try to stay calm, and don't panic. You will probably find out that only a minor procedure is needed to correct the problem.

say whut!

sorry no -- best of luck!

I know that sounds skimpy for something serious.

God Bless!

She'll have to wait to see what the doctor says tomorrow. Some things can be taken care of fairly easily so there's no way of knowing if she'll be able to have children until there is a diagnosis made from the doctor. Either way she can still have children. You don't have to be pregnant to have children. There are thousands of children waiting to adopt and there are options in surrogacy also. There's always hope. I wish her the best. PLUS...if it's just one ovary then there's still a chance of a natural pregnancy, just less of a chance but a chance none the less. She'll have a harder time trying to conceive but it's still possible.

if they have to remove the ovary, and she still has one , she could still get pregnant, it would just be harder.

I have had a cyst in one of my ovaries, but not a tumor.
From my understanding you can still have kids with one ovary.
I really hope all goes well. Good luck to your friend and to you for being there for her.

my cousin recently had surgery to get a tumor on her ovarie removed, if it's small i wouldn't worry about it, my cousin had a tumor the size of a vollyball on hers and thank godd it wasn't cancerous, my cuz can still have kids, but it will be harder, as you can imagine.....she got through it fine, so i would just be by your friends side as much as possible and let her know she's cared for..good luck to you guys....

Your "fried"? What, is she French?

If she has ovarian cancer she may need to worst scenerio have to get a hysterectomy (like me) then no, if it's not cancerous she may still be able to have children but it may be difficult.

I am sorry that your friend is going through this. Given her age (high school) it is unlikely that she would be suffering from ovarian cancer. That being said there is many things that it might be.

Most likely is a benign tumor (non cancerous) which just needs to be removed. Additionally, she could have a cyst which is also something they can treat simply. If she has not had any other symptoms (pain, naseau, fatigue) then I would not be too concerned about cancer.

Even if she does have cancer - they can extract her eggs and freeze them for future use should they need to remove her ovary. Also, she has two ovaries - one on each side so she should not be worried about future fertility right now.

Nope.Just hope she does.
