I'm so confused... distorted self image?!

Question: I think there's something wrong with me and I don't know what to do. There's something wrong with my self image. One day I will feel decently pretty, and the next I'll feel like the ugliest person on earth. I think I look prettier in some mirrors than others (probably the lighting, but I notice a big difference)

I think I look skinny in the morning but the more I eat throughout the day, I think my gut starts to look big. But everyone thinks I'm really skinny.

People think I'm pretty and skinny, and even if I accept it, I don't see it in the mirror. What can I do to help myself? (NO PROFESSIONAL HELP, OR COUNCELORS)

Sounds like you need a boyfriend. To tell you you look great every day, even on the days you think you dont!

Why are you so ashamed of seeing professional help?
Maybe that's what you need.

You want help, don't you?

hm..

well first of all it is true that you will look different in different mirrors with different lighting. sometimes i'm like wow, i'm looking so good today, then walk to a different mirror at a diff location and be like wtf is wrong with my face? lol, always happens to me.

about your weight issue..how about seeing if your height and weight add up to a normal weight?

if you don't want to go to a psychiatrist, next time you see your doctor, listen to what he says. i'm sure he will say if you are over weight, etc.

also you will look smaller in the morning because YOU WEIGH LESS IN THE MORNING. everybody does. a good 2 pounds or so..which ARE noticeable on skinnier people.

so everything you described is completely normal, and you should not worry.

just always accept yourself the way you are and STAY HEALTHY--that's most important!

good luck!

Hey I suffer from the same thing time to time. People can tell me I look pretty and guys can come up to me and hit on me, but it doesn't make me feel any different. Even when I look at pictures of myself I think i just look gross but everyone tells me how good I look. I think it was because I was trying to look like something different. Once you realize you can't change your appearnce completely, you'll start to notice your beauty. Go out shopping and buy yourself some clothes you love. I know they say money can't buy you happiness, but hey when I'm feeling down and ugly, I go shopping for clothes, and when i put them on I feel awesome and confident!

I know you don't want to see a professional about this, but would you consider talking to a religious leader? If you're a member of a church or temple, try talking to someone there about it. If you'd prefer, you can walk into pretty much any church or temple at random, and say you feel troubled, and you'd like to talk with someone.

Please, for your own sake, find the help you need.

No one looks pretty all the time. Lighting does matter for everybody and you probably are thinner in the morning. I'm not being sarcastic, it's true. I think were all taller in the morning too.

Anyway, my point being your noticing tiny tiny details because your thinking about this a LOT. Give yourself a break, don't take yourself so seriously, have fun. If you only knew how many pictures I saw the first time and thought: eck, i look horrible...and then years later i see them and i look great.

We are all our own worst critics...relax and just be you.

It is normal to have such moody feelings. You are one of those braves who have accepted it and expressed it so openly and clearly.
