I read in another question similar to this one about a woman who had ovaries removed and got cysts still. She said this was due to what she called 'ovary remnants' which is ovarian tissue that had been left in after breaking away. At least that is how I understood it. Maybe look it up and see if you can find anything about this.

Contact your doctor immediately and tell him or her the findings that the ER discovered. It is a odd problem that you need to find out who has made the mistake.Good Luck!

Let me make sure I understand this. You went to the ER, and the ER doctor told you that you had a cyst on your ovary, which was removed during a hysterectomy. If that's the case, I would seriously question the qualifications of that ER doctor, or I would question whether or not both of your ovaries were removed.

If you're absolutely sure that both of your ovaries were removed, I would ask for a second opinion. Did they do any ultrasounds that verified that you still had ovaries (or one ovary), or did they determine this by a pelvic exam?

Sometimes what happens is on the ultrasound or MRI scan the scar tissue or adhesion's shows up as the missing ovary. I've had both mine taken out but at different times and I've had the same thing happen to me. The doctor thought there was an ovary when there wasn't one, just scar tissue. The best thing to do anyway is to have a complete copy of your medical records especially the surgery report. The surgery report will list everything that was done to you and exactly what was removed and what they found such as Endometriosis, Etc. A hysterectomy only removes the Uterus, but I'm assuming that you had a "complete" hysterectomy which involved the ovaries and the cervix? I've had that one done.
