Medicine for bad periods?!

Question: I'm 14 if it matters. Whenever I have my period I don't feel like doing anything. The blood is so gross, it's brown and discusting. I get really bad cramps. I hate doing anything when I have it. I always feel sick. I don't take off from school every month because we only get 5 exused abstenses (sp?) the rest are uexused and you can't make up any of your homework unless you have a docter's note.
Is there any medicine I can take for this?

Plus it's a lot worst this time because I have that flu that is going around. I don't know if it's going around where you live but it's this flu with a really bad cough and fever.

Try taking Midol; it's meant to relieve mentrual symptoms. If that doesn't work, you might want to see your doctor about possible medications you could take. Talk to your mom about this - she'll probably be willing to go to your appointment with you.
Some women find that the birth control pill can help with menstrual symptoms - some moms, however, have a hard time accepting the idea that their daughters want to go on it for that reason only!

As for the brown blood, that's probably not going to change. It's quite normal for menstrual blood to be a brownish colour. Think about it - it's blood cells that have been lining your uterus for a few weeks, not "fresh" blood that you see when you cut yourself, so it's normal that it's not the same bright red.

Anyway, try some Midol, if that doesn't work, talk to a doctor. Hope you feel better soon :)

Sure there is hon. Try Midol its the best one out there. It will help a lot. You will feel good almost like not having a period.

I used to have really bad cramps and things during my period too. But, I went and got Birth Control. birth control isn't just used to prevent pregnancy, it can actually regulate your period and relieve pre-menstrual symptoms and symptoms during your period like heavy flow, cramping and even PMS. It really helped me. Now when I have my period, I feel just fine.
If you don't want to get Birth control, I would suggest buying over-the-counter medicine such as Pamprin or Midol.
