Womens only! Too much info for some!?!

Question: I came back from Asia about 2 months ago with a urinary tract infection, which is quite common when you travel, I took antibiotics for it when I came back and it went away but then after that got a vaginal infection, which I assume would be thrush because antibiotics tend to have that affect, so I've been to the doctor and she's been giving me prescriptions for all different types of thrush medication but it seems to get a bit better or better for a short time but then comes back and after two months I still have it. There wasnt any ever discharge but it ranged from being slightly itchy, to being itchy and stinging and sore and swollen on the bad days, and its most noticable when I go for a wee. Is this just a stubborn case of thrush or do you think it is something else? Its sending me mad because its lasted so long, where in the past it would just go away with the medication.

Thats how my pain started a yr ago...antibiotics and then antifungal medication. For me, the burning feelin never went away (diagnosed as vulvodynia). Hopefully youll get better. I dont have much advice, only that I feel for you. Let me know if it continues and I can tell about the treatments I have tried.

Did she try diflucan? Usually one pill takes care of a normal yeast infection....but you might need three doses on three consecutive days.....you're not diabetic are you????Stressed???? These can both be factors as to why this is so persisitent...and also, did your doctor do a culture to make sure it was yeast & not bacterial?????

I would seriously have your doctor check you for some kind of STD even though if you didnt have sex or anything you could still catch an STD so def. have that checked out.

sound like what i had once, i was also swollen but with no discharge and very itchy. I assumed it was thrush but went to the doctor anyway. he gave me 2 lots of medication 1 internal and 1 external it took a while to go but eventually it did. I live in Germany so the medication....well i unfortunately cant translate. the doctor did say that it wernt thrush it was another type of fungal infection that is often misstaken for thrush. the doctor , i would say has mis-diagnosed, maybe you should change your gyno and see what another doc says.
