When calculating the time between each period...?!

Question: do you count from the day you first started it until the next time you first get it next month
or
from the last day one month.. until the first time next month?

i got mine the 16th in january and it ended the 22nd

then i just got my next one today (im a little irregular)
so how long would you say was in between the two periods?
39 days or 45 days?
im just a little confused because this is only my second period ever.
sorry for such a stupid question
but thanks for the help =]

Your menstrual cycle lasts from the day you start bleeding to the day you start bleeding the next month. The average cycle length is about 28 days, but this can differ from woman to woman and cycle to cycle. Your cycle, in this case, lasted 45 days, which is not unusual for someone who has just started menstruating.

Your menstrual *period* lasts from the day you start bleeding that month to the day you stop bleeding that month.

A lot of women wonder the same thing when they first start their periods, so don't feel stupid. :)

i'm pretty sure its from first day to first day

i count from the day i get it and the day it stops. then i start from the day i stopped to the day i get it again and etc.

Always count from the First Day to the First Day. When a doctor asks the date of your last period, they mean the first day it started.

I think you're supposed from the first day of one cycle to the first day of the next cycle. Try using mymonthlycycles.com to keep track. It's free to register. You enter what days you had your period, and it will calculate your average cycle and estimate when your next period will start.

If you go to seventeen.com and click on the heading in the tool bar at the top that is called health and sex (or something like that) It has a period planner that is extremely helpful. It lets you plug in your start date and how long your cycle is and it gives you a neat chart.
