First of all, piercing ANYTHING with a gun is a bad idea as it causes much more trauma to the tissue than a needle does. A needle leaves a clean hole while a gun rips through the tissue.

Now that your piercing is already one, however, all you can do is take care of it. Grab some sea salt from the store and dissolve it in warm water. Soak the piercing in the sea salt. Also, the guns have a tendency to put the back on the piercing too tight not leaving enough room for swelling. If at all possible, try to loosen the back of the stud. With any piercing there will be a certain amount of tenderness for awhile afterwards. Try taking some Ibuprofen or Tylenol.

As long as the area isn't red and you don't have discharge coming from the piercing, it isn't infected.

If the piercing IS red, give it a day or two to see if the sea salt soaks help break the infection. If not it may be time to head to a doctor for antibiotics. Be prepared for them to tell you that the piercing needs to come out.

If the area around the piercing is red or if it is oozing, you need to see a doctor as you probably have an infection.

If there are no signs of infection, you can always try dabbing a little bit of toothache cream on it (something like Orogel). It's just a local anesthetic and may help the pain.

Doctor!!!
my friend had to take hers out and keep it out cuz it was done poorly with a gun. then later she got it done by the same person I did and it is fine.
