Answers: the pills you take up to 72 hours after contraception. do they really really really work?

They're not anywhere close to 100%. That's why they're intended for emergency use, when nothing else has a chance of working. So no, they don't "really really really" work. What really really really works is regular hormonal birth control, combined with a secondary barrier method like a condom. However, if you had unprotected sex, the morning-after pill works a lot better than doing nothing.

Their literature say "up to 72 hours" but they are far less effective on the third day after sex than on the first day. Tht is because the pills work primarily by delaying ovulation, hopefully untill all the sperm inside the woman are dead. It can't delay ovulation if you ovulate before taking it, and it can't prevent fertilization. It CAN interfere with implantation, but "can" and "always does" are two different things.

The sooner you take them the better I've taken them a few times and worked perfect. And once they didnt but i think i waited until 48 hours afterwards.

Yes they do, the sooner you take them the better.
