Question: I hate asking about this kind of stuff because its kind of embarassing, BUT, one of the lobes of my clit is swollen, not the labia...just the one side of the clit, and it's kind of painful...umm could this be something really bad? or should i just wait it out to see if the swelling goes down. Has anyone else had this happen???

uummmm......I understand your embarressment, but its ok, we're all woman so dont worry about that.
I have only had this happen when aroused, have you tried masturbating? is that too painful? Are you wearing too tight underwear? Are you pants/pantyhose too tight? Tonight, dont wear any underwear to bed and let yourself air out.
I would advise waiting a day or two to see if it goes down, if it doesnt get any better, call your doctor.
You seem to have an infection. Go to your doctor, he'll give you the right medicine.
