I seriously prefer male nurses AND Drs...

Female nurses and Drs usually acted as though "they know whether it hurts or not" and treated me like I was a BIG WHINER!

i thnk thats just kinda wierd. i never saw one

yes i have and male doctors for gynae stuff... as for labour i don't know but i think in the heat of the moment you wouldn't care so long as you get that baby out! If you are really bothered you can request a female nurse. If it is a male doctor or nurse they should always have a female health care professional with them as a chaperone.

As a male nurse who's attended dozens of deliveries, I can tell you that I've never had a patient object to my presence in the delivery room. Frankly, your question puzzles me. Most OB doctors are male and women don't object to them, so why would you think they'd have a problem with male nurses? On several occasions the doctor wasn't present when the second stage of delivery occurred, and I was the one who caught the infant as it emerged. I also taught the new mothers how to care for their episiotomy, how to breast feed, and advised them on when they could safely resume having sex. See, we male nurses ARE real nurses!

male nurses and usually better at their job then females > that's my opinion anyways !

I wouldn't want a male nurse with me while I was in labour, but Im not bothered if they are there for other people.
But then again I didnt want a student midwife with me when I went into hospital to have my daughter but the student I did have was so much nicer than the midwife that had 10+ years experience in the job.
