Help! I don't have sex on a regular but I want to be on hormonal birth contr!

Question: I have been in a 2 year relationship with my boyfriend and we didn't start having sex until a few months ago. (Just for reference, we were both virgins). I am in a long distance relationship and I plan to see him in May, but I'm unsure how to start this birth control. I don't want the horomones to harm me if I don't use them on a regular because of the long distance relationship; It is monogomous. I only want to use it when I need it...and I want something reliable!! Help please... :(

A combination of condoms with a spermicidal gel is extremely reliable, more so actually than the birth control pill. If you aren't going to be taking the pill regularly, it will actually be more unreliable.

I strongly recommend the condom/spermicidal route.

the best kind of birth control is no sex at all....

if you don't want to use it regularly then condoms are the best answer

No birth control method is 100 reliable. Don't mess around with hormones. Just use condoms.

use condoms is safe

dont have sex you are not married

In my day day you'd be considered a whore... but now adays' you are called easy... i could be wrong though about what they call em now

I would check on the IUD the 5 year one you can decide when the time is right for you to have it removed. And not worry about accidently getting pregnant. Birth control pills arent all that effective many people has got pregnant on the pill.

if you want to use it on a regular basis find a new boyfriend
to be with or as as everyone else seems to say just use a condom

For hormonal (Pills) to work you have to take them at the same time every day. When you first start them it takes a week to start working - For something that only needs to be every few months look into the shot or implants (supposed to last five to ten years).

Talk to your doc and see what they recommend.

get some more information on birth control. ask your girlfriends!
birth control makes your body thing youre pregnant so that when you have sex you wont get pregnant again.. so you will get the symptoms of a pregnant woman like getting fatter and depressed.
google it

You can't start and stop using birth control. It will seriously screw up your hormones and your period.

You can start it by doing the Sunday start. The Sunday AFTER your period ends you take the first pill. From then on out you take 1 pill once a day at the SAME time every night to ensure even more protection against pregnancy.

Your doctor should have explained all this to you...try calling him with any other questions you have. But trust me,your body has one way to do your period, and the pills force it to come at a different time.So if you only take the pills one month, but not the next your cycle will be all screwed.

Contact your doctor with any question!

I've heard that its not that safe to use birth control..cuz it stops your period and when your done wit the birth control , your period last longer ....its just better to use a condom...its the safest...trust me

Talk to your doctor!!!!

You need to learn the reality of birth control pills and other forms of protection NOW ...BEFORE you get into trouble.

If you take the pill you MUST take it regulary (and for months before it starts to actually do what you are taking it for) or it won't work at all and then you'll have REAL hormone issues what with being pregnant and all....other wise WRAP IT UP (his pecker I mean) and use a SPERMICIDAL JELLY. No glove no love - repeat this over and over and over.

I have tried the pill and also the nuva ring. Personally with 2 different types of birth control pills, my hormones were out of control and I would become really irratably and moody. With the Nuva Ring I felt more like myself. It has lower hormones because you place the ring inside your vagina all the time except during your period. You say you only want to use the BC when you need it, perhaps condoms are the best solution for you, this ofcourse does not mess with you hormones at all. Speak to your doctor and see what they recommend.

Well really just taking a few birth control pills when you plan on having sex isnt the proper way to take birth control. Most birth control pills needed to be taken on a daily schedule to be the most effective for you. I completely understand that you dont want to continue them when your not even sexually active, but thats a tricky situation. I think you should consult with your doctor what would be the best plan for you. I wouldnt want to tell you to take them a certain way and then you end up pregnant. So really I think you should consult your doctor
good luck

use condoms

I'm not quiet understanding why you don't want to go on birth control pills. The hormones can't really harm you, and in many cases it can help you. The hormones just help to balance your natural hormones. It's a tiny pill once a day, and it can help regulate your cycle, minimize cramps, and clear up acne, among other things. Also you are in charge of your birth control, meaning you don't have to rely on anyone else to worry about your safety. Birth control has been known to make some girls gain weight, but it has also been known to make some girls usually lose weight. Either way it's a margin of 5lbs usually. If it's more all you have to do is go off the pill. Since you are both virgins and you shouldn't have to worry about STDs I really think birth control is a good idea.
Talk to your doctor about it, there are a lot of different options out there, and they're not harmful like you might think. Birth control does have to be taken regularly, but there are shots that I think you can get once a month, as well as other methods similar to that.
Above all, just remember to stay safe :)

if you do not have sex with you boyfriend their is no resign to tack the pill .have you pill a day before you have a sex.ether way the pills will not harm you.

BC pills cannot be used just when they are needed. They take a month to become effective. I don't see why you don't want to take them full time. They actually help a lot.

.................. WOW YOU SHOULDN"T HAVE SEX UNTILL YOU ARE MARRIED.
