PMS question?!

Question: ive read pms symptoms are supposed to stop when u start bleeding, can the irritability etc stay during the period or is that something else? what does everyone else experience?
i get spikes in anxiety levels and mood swings starting about a week to 10 days before my period, then it lingers for the first few days of my period too

absolutely it can linger...actually, since i just started yesterday ( i know, i know, too much info) i've been looking it up online all day cause i keep thinking it's supposed to be better as soon as it starts. it doesn't. anxiety...irritability and generally feeling like poop. grrr....
you're definately not alone!

M I D O L or a doobie

I become super B____ a week before an during period...

When my mother has PMS, we know never to let her see our test results =D

There is nothing wrong with that.

my mother was at her worst during the bleeding. my sister and i were grumpy prior.

everyone is different. And it seems with every year I am different than the yr before.

I have the same problem, I get pissed very easily before and during the first days of my period. You're not alone!

well i guess...i mean i know i'm always a bit cranky when i get my period, but it's because i get severe cramping pains and due to that, i'm in no mood to eat.

everybody can be different and every month can be different i wouldn't be too concerned about it. if you still are talk your doctor on your check up

same here. like a week or 2 before i want to either kill everyone or bawl my eyes out. then by the 3rd day of it, i'm loving life again. i hate pms.

yeah, I have the same problem, and then I get irritable at just about any time too... I am now going through premenopausal syndrome, which is like pms, but way worse. I have been taking vitamins for these symptoms, and they do help! check it out:

PMSing can linger for a long while. You can actually get it during and AFTER your period (even though it's called pre-menstrual syndrome!). I get really moody before, during, and after, and I asked my health teacher last semester if you could pms during and after your period, and she said that yes, you can.

Hope I helped. :)

its possible that you had PMDD. Look it up see what you think.

There is still moodiness and discomfort. If you are of age I would drink a glass of wine. One glass would help relax and for me it lessens the pain.

Premenstral sydrome as an actual medical diagnosis is loosing its crediablitiy. Yes around your period you notice your aggititated but chances are you wouldve been with out your period too. Your notice it because you arent feeling the best you could be.

i have that sometimes too, wher im moody a little bit and i have cramps, then it carries over into the actual period a day or two. it doesnt stay the whole length though. the moodiness could just by mom and the fact that im 17,though.

I think I get perky and then sometimes I am grumpy. Mine is werid.

I am the same way, and yes it is normal....most of the symptoms occur before your period and when your period starts your horomone levels start to drop.

this is normal due to your hormone levels. are you on meds for depression? you maybe on the wrong ones. high periods of extra energy is a sign of wrong meds. this could just be normal mood swings

im usually really moody, sad or iratable before and during my period and i hate it!

PMS is caused by changes in hormones. Your hormones continue to fluctuate throughout your period. It is a bit different for everybody -- so it is no surprise that your symptoms last into the first few days of your period.

There are a few antidepressants that *do* help relieve the symptoms. Lexapro and Celexa are two that tend to work.
