Why am I retaining water?!


Question: From Friday to Sunday I gained 4lbs and now I am noticing some swelling on my chest and I easily get lines from socks or even just from a blanket being on me. I must be retaining water but have no idea why. I have been eating less salt than normal and am eating a healthy diet. Any ideas?

I notice that I start to retain water when I'm slightly dehydrated - not drinking enough. I know that sounds weird, but if you don't drink enough your body just holds onto the water that it does receive.

are you pregnant?

well just because you decrease salt in take doesnt mean you are going to get ride of excess fluid. you have sodium/potassium balance. pay attention to this, ex leg cramp make sure you get more potassium in diet. have you been sick. on any meds. if you drink alot of soda and was inactive this weekend you could be retaining. be careful with taking extra protein supp. this is hard on your kidneys and this maybe the cause....
