It depends on the birth control, and it depends on when you started it. Some brands claim that if you start taking birth control the day your period starts, then you are immediately protected. Check your directions. If you threw them out, look them up online. If you didn't start on day one of your period, and/or the directions don't say that you're protected from day one, then you are not protected from pregnancy right now.

Even if you started on day one and the directions say that you're protected, many gynecologists say that you should always use backup protection for the first week, and some say that you should use backup for the first month.

I'm surprised that no one has yet advised that you get Plan B, since that is absolutely what you should do. You can take Plan B while you are on the birth control pill. Get it from your nearest pharmacy. Take it as soon as possible if you don't want to get pregnant.

I believe it takes a full pack of pills to be effective. You should call your doctor or pharmacist

Yes, you could still get pregnant. You're supposed to use an alternate form of birth control for a week or two when you're just starting birth control pills. Don't freak out! Wait until the end of the month to see if you get your period. If you don't, go get a pregnancy test at the doctor, that's the most reliable way. Until then, use other forms of contraception in addition to the pills!!

well,i have depo shot and sometime ago i took it on Monday and my doc said it was ok to have unprotected sex onbly by thursday....u d have mentioned what b. control u use...

It depends on your birth control but normally it's around 10 - 14 days that you have to be using the birth control to be protected. So, just relax for now and wait for your next period. If you don't get it, then you should get a pregnancy test.

yes, after a week you should be safe... you may want to get the morning after pill... you can still take it between 72 hours after you had sex and it will still be effective. make an appointment at your doctors... if it is to late for the pill then you should ask your doctor for a pregnancy test.
dont worry im sure it will be fine
good luck, all the best!
