I was about 13. I used pads for a few years before i felt my flow was getting too heavy and i was getting embarrassed.
I went to the local supermarket and bought a pack of tampax regular size with an applicator. Inside the box are the instructions on how to insert them properly.
I was a bit nervous but i followed the directions of pushing the applicator all the way in, and then pushing on the plunger. The first few tries it was a bit uncomfortable and even painful as i hadnt put the tampon in far enough (worried about how 'long' i was in there if you get me!!). After about 3 tries it was sitting in there comfortably and i forgot it was even in there.
With pads, you always know it's there cus it's in between your legs and is a bit of a faff. Tampons are much quicker and easier, and more hygeinic. You just put em in and then forget about them for the next 4-5 hours.
I recommend using the ones with applicators so that you get them in far enough. Also start out using the smallest size going if you're nervous, it makes it much easier. You can still use a pad if you have a heavy flow but you'll get used to the application and removal.

i have never really used a pad just at night its not scary at all it is actually really easy and very comfortable just use the smallest tampon you can find the first time and probabily a plastic applicator would be easiest just follow the instructions and you should be fine
I was 13 and I read the directions. I was a little scared. It's different from a pad because it doesn't feel gross like pads do. You feel normal (like when you don't have your period) and its way more comfortable than wearing a pad.
i used mine wen i woz 12 and now im 13..i dnt use dem ne more coz i find them quite uncomfortable ! pads r the better choice 4 me :)

i think i was 13 and going on a school tour to a swimming pool, i was terrified!! but it was a lot easier than i thought and gets much easier with practice, the trick is if you can feel it, it's not in far enough, it should fit in snuggly and not rub

If i were you i'd only where pads unless i was swimming or something. I think tampons are gross!!!
I was 16 - i got my period when i was 12 but was so scared and so tense every time i tried that it really hurt me. Just try and relax - it is alot easier once you get used to it but just be careful about how long you leave it there. Just make sure you don't try when there is people waiting and bashing down the toilet or bathroom door. Maybe also try 'applicator tampons' they come with a small cylinder so you know how far to insert them and sometimes slide in a bit easier as they have a gloss outer - you then pull this part out and only the cotton tampon remains inside. It is different in the sense that you can swim and wear whatever you like - sometimes even though they have super slim pads you can still see it. I also found I felt cleaner when i used a tampon as the bleeding doesn't actually leave the body until you are ready to dispose of the tampon. Hope this helps.
I was about 20. Yes, a little scared. No, my mother and no one else had ever told me how but the pkg tells you how. Yes, it is very different than a pad. It is not bulky like a diaper. However, I won't let my 14-year old daughter wear one. She is too young and immature to use it properly concerning the TSS.
when i was 16 and it was summer. i was dying to swim and obviously u can't wear pads in your bikini. of course it feels different then a pad. because tampons go into your vagina. pads stick to your panties.

I was about 13 and i read the packet and was a bit nervous, i put it in, left it about 10mins then took it out again as it hurt, of course now i know i put it in wrong, but the next day i tried again and have been using them ever since, im 16 now
I started using them when I was 11.Just read the instructions carefully.It may take a while to get it inserted properly.I sta\rted out having to lubricate it before inserting it until I got the hang of it.It helped.
