Is female circcumcision painful?!
Question: My husband to be is from Africa, and he tells me that once we are married I will need to get circumcised. I made an appointment to get it done by a surgeon, but my fiance says I need to get it done by one of his tribe's female elders once we move to Africa after the wedding. Has anyone had this done and is it painful?

I can't believe some of the racist responses I'm seeing others post here, this is Africa, the motherland, this is our culture, and how our men treat our women. I bet these people wouldn't say this to a proud African King to his face, we're not like some of you "western civilization" who make false claims of diversity yet don't practice it, we do practice it, if this is what it takes to be a queen you go girl.
i've heard stories that it is very painful and people don't want to get it done because they don't give you medication for the pain!!! i would NEVER do it!
please dont get that done, it is such a old fashioned thing for your man to want you to do. Its having your clitoris CUT off. u cant orgasm or enjoy sex, its a horrible operation. Tell your man no way are u doing that. It used to be done so that women would not have affairs because they would no longer enjoy sex and therefore not go looking for it. I feel so sorry for girls having to get that done. there are organisations all over the world trying to get it banned because it is so cruel to women. NO. DO NOT LET HIM TO DO THIS. It may be religious, but the painful truth is that the tribe's elders will hold you down (NO ANESTHETIC) and slice off your clitoris and most of your labia, then sew up your entire genital area- leaving only a small hole to allow menstration and urination. IT IS OUTDATED and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT, under any circumstances let this happen. It is illegal is nearly every country. I repeat myself, DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN.

I'd do it. Just make sure the tribal elders wash the circumcision tool with LOTS of cow urine before beginning the procedure.

Of corse you must be circumsized, it is African tradition ispecially if you is moving there to live in his village. I would has it done myselfs but my doctor say my medical surance wont cover what it cost to have it done to me.
