My breasts are so lumpy?!

Question: I've notices that i had a lump in one of my breasts when i was 18. I saw a doctor they drove me crazy with ex rays, biopsies, ultrasounds and humiliating touching and treating me like I was a lab rat. After all of that they told me that i had nothing to worry about, and that i had fibrodenoma (not sure of spelling), pretty much that the lump has been there since my breast developed.

Since then i moved and saw a gynecologist at my new location, she felt my breast and found tree more lumps that i haven't noticed before. She suggested to see a surgeon right away. I'm really scared to go, I'm afraid that they would do biopsies again, they are so painful. After all I'm in my early 20s I shouldn't be worried about those issues right now, but every time I touch my breast I feel those lumps now, and I'm very scared. Chances are its nothing to worry about and i don't want to be cut and poked with needles.

Am I being irresponsible?

It is probably nothing and for your peace of mind you should do it, because if it should be something serious, it would be found early. Don't postpone it. The benefits outway the bad part.

you can break them up and massage them out, but its a bit painful

get yourself to the dr asap the sooner you find out the better

if the docters have said its ok then y do u fear?
i dont think ur irresponsible

ur just scared, and its normal. just remeber that it is important for u to do these tests, wouldnt u rather catch it early then wait and have the problem have more complications? i hope u are ok and wish u the best

Does your current doctor know of your previous diagnosis of fibrodenoma....if not let him/her know and if possible get the medical report to him/her. You should get a second opinion though..I have fibrodenoma as well and it is not cancer...and I continue to get "lumpy" breasts... You should have it checked at least once a year if you are over 21. But, if a second doctor suggests you need a biopsy...by all means get one..they may be painful, but breast cancer is worse...

It's normal to be apprehensive.
Chances are, you have fibrocystic breasts. I've had them all my life and so far, have not had problems.
However, since your doctor recommends that you get them checked, I would do so and as soon as possible. You wouldn't want to let something go that could have been prevented and cured. Like breast cancer.
Thanks for the reminder, I need to get a mammogram.

In fact you are doing the compete opposite because you have been so proactive. As for the pain, it may be just the previous surgeons lack of "finesse" so to speak. The number one thing you can do is express your concerns and let your caregiver know all of your questions and concerns about any procedure. Again, you have done everything you can and continue to do so! Get well soon and best regards

It always smart to get a second opinion so yes you should see a surgeon or at least a general physician to rule out the possibility of breast cancer. Make sure to let any other doctor you see know about your condition. Or let your gyno know about your condition and ask her if it is normal to develop several lumps as you age given your past health history. It is irresponsible to ignore it but here is some information on it.

A fibroadenoma is a firm, noncancerous tumor of a gland, often found in the breast during a breast self-exam. It is round, painless, feels firm and rubbery, and can be easily moved around.

Fibroadenomas may occur as one lump or multiple lumps in the breast. They are most common in women in their late teens and early 20s and occur more frequently in black women.

Fibroadenomas are benign tumors and are very common in young women. Sometimes they are multiple. They suggest you see a surgeon only because there is a "lump".. They will probably do ultrasounds to confirm that they are fibroadenomas, but if they are normal, then you won't need to see a surgeon. Don't worry...it is very common

u have what they call booby cancer
