What else can I do to control my period-aside from Birth Control?!
Question: I am 31 and can't have anymore kids-which I'm not happy about but I've had a tubal done three years ago and now on a strong birth control (that treats endometriosis) b/c I'm anemic. I've take this b.c for three months, then I stop for one week and then continue it on with the pills. I've done this without the doctors advisment b/c I'm sick of my periods. I soak pads every 2 hr and it's insane that the cramps and clots the size of tennis balls. I know it's too much information here but what else can I do. I want to go to my doctor and get this period thing stopped. You know, menopause can not come fast enuf for me! Any advice?

After reading what you wrote, I would find another Dr..
Sounds to me like you may need a hysterectomy.
Make an appointment for an exam with a specialist.
There is nothing wrong with a second opinion.
Hope this helps.
drink lots of water, exercise regularly and stay away from salty things (i read that they increase the flow). this is what i do, i exercise at least 3 times a week and have LOTS of water, and my periods are pretty light
one of my aunts had terrible, painful periods with her endometriosis. she finally got a full hysterectomy, and she was in her early 30's. while it's not the most ideal solution, it is a permanent one, and in a situation like yours, where the pain and the bleeding is extreme, it seems like a viable option. i would seek a second opinion. maybe find a female doctor who may be more sympathetic.
You poor thing! I know what heavy periods are like, I've done that change every two hours bit, and it's horrible. What helped me immensely is natural medicine (although it can be expensive). I started out with a Naturopath, but switched to a Chinese Herbalist because the herbs are less expensive than the vitamins the Naturapath recommends.
Before you even begin to consider a hysterectomy, I urge you to try the natural route, and drop the BC pills --they might be bad for you.
Good luck!
