Question about the pill and its effects..........little embarassing?!

Question: ok so this is a little embarassing but i just feel like i need to ask someone.....
ok right before i started birth control my boyfriend voiced two fears of his:
1. that i would turn into a *****.........which hasnt happend i havent changed my attitude (yet as he claims)
2. that i wouldnt want to have sex anymore
and like for the past two nights ive been off like monday i was just really really tired so that was my excuse and even he has had that problem before so he cant say anything about that but then last night i like um wasnt workin to accomodate him ...or well (embarassed) i wasnt getting wet..... and i really just didnt feel like it i wanted to cuddle really

anyway he says its cuz of the pill (from past experience) but i tried to say its just cuz we have been together for a while and having sex nearly everyday and that im just having a little down time...even though maybe he is right...have ya'll had any problems like this?

The pill can be the cause of mood swings, dryness, and lack of sex drive. But it can also increase your sex drive. Each pill is different. Each person is different. Your boyfriend should be grateful that you're on the pill to begin with & be more supportive. Try changing pills if you're wondering what is causing all this. It could just be you in general. Hormones, in general, cause all of these things. But the pill can add to the situation. Use lubrication. Tell your boyfriend to be more romantic & passionate. After a while being with someone, it's normal for sex drives to go up & down depending on the situation. Unfortunately, life happens. He's just gotta work WITH you, not against you. This is so common. He'll experience this with nearly anyone that he'd be with. So he should be more understanding.

If your that worried about it get a MIRENA IUD. You won't have as many problems.

When I used to take the pill, i took Nordette, and it never affected my mood. After a few years on that, I got on some tri-cycline (sp?) pill that DID affect my mood. Stay away from those.
Also, the pill works by tricking your body into thinking it's pregnant, which may affect your sex drive. It's super-ironic. I remember getting off the pill and being horny, but then I had to be careful about sex. Also, when I was on the pill I had certain days that were HORNY days, such as the Thursday after the Sunday when I'd take the placebo. It was like clockwork.
I had tons and tons of sex with a long-term boyfriend when I took the pill.
Just wait.
It's normal for your body to have some adjustment period to the new hormones. I'm sure you guys will have your love life back soon. Stay on the pill for at least 2 months before you decide not to. It's too soon to say. :-) And remember EVERYONE is different. Each woman will respond differently to the pill, and not all birth control pills are created equal.
IUDs are a great option, but they can make women infertile, so only if you don't plan on having any (more) kids ever should you use an IUD. That is what a gynecologist told me.
