Feminax period pain reliever?!

Question: I went to buy a packet today as they used to really help with my painful periods. The girl in Boots told me that they no longer contain a muscle relaxant and I would be better off with a Paracetamol and Codeine tablet.

Why did they take out the muscle relaxant? I dare say the paracetamol will help just the same, but these used to be an absolute godsend during my time of the month as I do experience horribly painful cramps.

I have just looked on the Feminax website and they definately only contain paracetamol and codine. Cheaper and better just to buy Boots own make!

I found that after awhile feminax stopped working for me and found paracetamol just didnt work and if this is ends up to be the case for you go to the doctors and ask for Metaphoric acid or transemic acid. They are one of the best way to relieve cramps (in my experience the best) but doc's in the uk dont like perscribeing them as they are very expencive for the NHS as my nurse (whos very sympithetic about cramps) explained to me. I hope this helps in someway because i know how hard it is to find something which actuly works and these work wonders!

I don't know why they did it- side effects probably. I take Syndol for mine- they do relax the muscles but they can make you very sleepy!
