Question: I go get my pap smear on Friday (3-7) do I need to shave down there before I go. Sometiems I trim but I am a person who really doesnt shave down there or trim a lot so do I need too or not? Also is it normal to shave down there or trim down there or do some girls just let it go?

Shaving is optional for anyone some people like it others dont. The doc will not care if you shave or not trust me they have seen it all already. Whatever you feel comfortable with is best
Your OBGYN is there to exam you INTERNALLY. So long as you are clean, she will not care what your pubic hairs look like.

I wouldn't go out of your way to trim or shave just for the doctor. They don't care what your pubic hair looks like (I hope).

Thats just one of those things that depends on the person, If you feel you want to trim go ahead and trim but if you dont normaly shave then dont bother to!

you do not need to shave for a pap smear, since the doctor will be collecting a sample from inside of you. a lot of women trim and/or shave sometimes because excess hair annoys them, and it's also quite messy when menstrating.
Most doctors recommend that you don't. Shaving that area often creates severe razor burn (which could end up much worse looking) that could even evolve into an infection. Keep the hair.

Yes, it is normal to trim or shave down there. I think most girls do at least a little clean up. You can't just let it go...you've got to trim at least a little.

Some women like to shave or keep it trim neat. It is eachs on preference. If you like to wear swim suits/binikis in the summer then yes you need to at least trim around the biniki line area. You don't want it all to be hanging out as that is nasty.

Personally I shave nearly it all off and what's left I trim very short, but that's just cause I like it that way. I have friends who go bald and friends who leave it au naturale... and I don't think guys care as much as they say.
You need to do whatever will make you more comfortable. I think every women has to make their own decision about their style down under. If you want my advice though it probably wouldn't hurt to trim down there. Think what it would be like if we never went to the salon and got our hair cut. The same applies down there.
To shave or not to shave is a personal choice, some shave for comfort and others shave for a partner.
My opinion, do what makes you feel comfortable and gives you the most confidence.
Dr.'s do not care what or how you keep your hair, just as long as your clean and oder free.

I would suggest that you not shave in that area. Normal discharge would get caught on your hairs and they (the doctor) could look at that discharge (it might have a color to it), and see if you could have an infection.
it's completely normal and if you don't want to that's you! don't let anyone run you life! some people say your supposed to but waxing is super painful and when you trim it that takes hours if you use scissors so what can a girl do? just do what you want and if you think you should then just shave!

You could dye it pink and spike it into a mohawk and your obgyn still wouldn't care. He/she cares about what's going on inside of you, not your prefered method of personal grooming. The only time that an obgyn would adress that is if you get ingrown hairs or pubic lice.
