Sciatica

your sciatic nerve is about a thumbs width and runs from the base of yoru spine to your foot. When this gets trapped it is called sciatica

If you are having pain in your bum and legs then this is probably what its is.

I suffer from sciatica too and i get pain all the way though my bum to my legs.

My advice- go to the doctors to see if they can confirm this/ tell you what it is.....

aparantly acupuncture relieves the pain too.

See your doctor. Maybe arthritis or fatigue, one of which would have an underlying cause.

Make sure your chair is adjusted correctly and is comfortable.

Try not to sit in one position for very long, move a little bit and stretch your legs and arms on a regular basis.

Are you overweight. Sometimes overweight may cause such problems. Due to overweight your back of legs and bum feel extra pressure and so this problem arise. It may be a special type of arthritis also and may be due to nerve problem also. All you have to do is do some regular exercise, specially that involves your legs. Make a regular habit of morning walk of at least 30 minutes. Take lots of water and vegetables, reduce the consumption of meat, and salt. Try to lose some weight if you are overweight. You can consult with physiotherapist also if the pain become severe.

Could be the type of chair you are sitting in or bad posture. Try sitting in a hard high backed chair this may help. Or yes it could be sciatica which is extremely painful and is felt when one is sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Try a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as Diclofenic or Ibuprofen these usually help.

Sitting for a long time causes lactic acid (the stuff that makes you ache when you've exercised) to build up so that combined with the inactivity of your muscles for a long time causes the ache.
