Two years after you start having sex you should have a pap smear. It checks for HPV, which can cause cervical cancer, and when caught early helps you a lot. It's definitely a good idea. I'm 17 and just had my first one--NOT SO BAD! It sounds worse than it is. Takes less than 30 seconds, don't sweat it.

You should go at age 18 or when you're sexually active (protection or not)--whichever comes frist. Don't be afraid.

If you are 17 and sexually active then it's time to go to the OBGYN for a check up and pap smear. The speculum they use is smaller than a penis and should not cause you any undue discomfort.

I would go at 18. If you want to be more safe, then go and get put on pills. You dont have to take your mom or let her know what your doing. Say that you have heard that the gardasil protects against cervical problems and your considering it since you dont want anything to happen. Then she wouldnt think anything of it. Thats just a suggestion. Plus if you have a woman dr its a little easier.

You should go when you turn 18 or are sexually active (whichever is first). It's not that bad. Think about something else while you are there and try not to stress out. It's really quick and painless. If you want, I'm sure they will let you have someone in the room with you.

You should go to the OB because you are sexually active. The speculum isn't comfortable but it isn't painful either. You just need to tough it out and realize that we're all going too and none of us are super-heroes. It's totally bearable.

you absolutely need to see an obgyn the minute you become sexually active. it's not about protection as much as health. they can screen for cervical cancer. a papsmear is nothing to fear, having surgery the removes your insides because your didn't want to catch it early, now that's something to fear. just breathe, if you can have sex, you can handle this.

whenever you become sexually active, you need to go to the gynecologist, whatever age that is. usually, the rule is when you turn 18 or start having sex. and it makes no difference whether or not you use protection. so you need to go to the gynecologist as soon as you can make an appointment.

All women benefit from routine gynecologic screening, including a pelvic exam. Most experts agree that the first pelvic exam should take place within three years of the onset of sexual activity or by age 21, whichever comes first.
