Colposcopy/vagina question?!

Question: I recently had a colposcopy (where they look into your vagina with a light) done and a biopsy, they said I had high-grade dysplasia (not cancer). They told me to call them back in 6 weeks after they get the biopsy back....what sorts of things will they tell me when I call them back? What will be the worst that will happen?

With these, you will likely be monitored every 6 months (or twice a year). They will likely state that your cells show some abnormality--which means it is to be monitore for a while. In many patients, nothing happens. But it is always better to just watch closer. The possible worst thing may mean (eventually) that you may need the organ removed IF it develops cancer. Mostly, just the specific regions of abnormalities are removed (like larger biopsies)

they will either tell u that u can wait it out if its not as bad as they thought or they will tell u to come back in to have a cryo surgery or laser removal. Thats the worst case scenario, they will want to remove the cells if they are bad enough so that u have less chances of it ever turning into cancerous cells.

I had this same thing done but my goodness it didn't take 6 weeks to get results, that's ridiculous! When my results came in it showed I actually had stage two cervical cancer and I had a "leap" procedure done which was no big deal and that was in 2004, no problems since and pap's are normal. Don't worry too much, it's pretty control able.
