You don't have to break it. You can use tampons and even have a pelvic exam without it breaking. It's not a piece of glass, it's a membrane, and it stretches. It will actually become more elastic with time.
Hardly anyone can see theirs. Get a hand mirror and the diagram from the tampon box, do a little comparing. You'll see that you will be able to fit one up there if you've got it at the right angle. There's no reason to hurt yourself.
