Absence of period-can it cause any damage to your body?!

Question: So, I haven't had a normal period for the last tw years. I mean, I get it once in awhile but that's it. I haven't had one for 8 months now. I don't want to keep depending on the pill to get my period. It's not healthy that way, but if I don't take my pills and don't get my period for a long long time, does it do any damage to my body/organs? Does it affect anything in my body? I asked the doctors these questions but all they can tell me is "it depends." I have had a couple of tests ran through my body and so far, they couldn't find anything. But my big concern is, can the absence of a period do any horrible damage or affect other parts of the body? If anyone know, please tell me! (yes I have consulted a doctor and he couldn't tell me anything, except to go on the pill) so I need someone who have had experience in this, any nurses or doctors here, or just anyone who may know of this. Thank you!

not having a period will not damage your body at all. women on the shot go without the period at all. i'm on the pill and only have it 4 times a year, tops.

now, NOT having a period can be an INDICATOR that something is wrong. it is an effect of something going wrong, not the cause of it.

not having periods could possibly cause you to get blood clots. usually not harmful but a lot of blood clots and left untreated could be very harmful. so i would just stay checked up with that.
and your period, i've never heard of a period THAT irregular. geez!

umm u sound just like my friend yea i know that u dont want to hear this but u need to prly get some hormone pills from the doctor DONT worry u will prly only b on them for at the most a month and then ull just be put on the pill to keep it regulated.

it is definitely not good to not have a period for 8 months that means your estrogen levels are not what they are supposed to be.
