Lybrel: Has anyone taken this prescription to prevent periods?!

Question: I'm on it now, its actually quite nice. When I started taking it, my period was gone instantly wihtout any breakthrough bleeding. I would recommend it - but with any birth control, your results may vary. If you don't like it, feel free to try something else. If it works for you, it should be the end of the suffering your describe.

this cant be safe i mean women have been dealing with periods since the stone age and they made it. now theres a magic pill that stops ur period so that u get them only 3 times a year! but the thing is when u get ur period 1 of the 3 times a year it is hell!! if i were u stick to ur natural cycle! DONT MESS WITH NATURE! lol

edit::
well just imagine what there going to be like when u do get them! they will be like nuclear explosions! lol

I'm not taking Lybrel itself, but I take a monophasic pill continuously so that I only have three or four periods a year.

The lining of your uterus stops building up, so the periods you do get are really light - Mine last for three days, and aren't heavy enough to bother with a tampon - I just use pantiliners for teh whole thing,

It's great!

It's also safe. There is no medical reason to have a period when you are on hormonal birth control - the bleeding you get isn't a natural period anyway - it was included when they first designed the pill for marketing purposes to make it seem more "natural" and more acceptable

Women today have far more periods in their lifetime than we are designed to - we are designed to be pregnant, not to be bleeding every month,

Also the hormone-free period week is actually the pills Achillies heel in preventing pregnancy. You are most at risk if you miss a pill in the week before or after your period, as you have a whole week without hormones already, and extra day can lead to ovulation. Without that week off you are maximally protected all the time. You can miss a single pill here and there and not have to worry.
