I am having my ovaries removed &a Hysterectomy. What can I expect afterwards?!
Question: I am 50 and still have regular menstral cycles.
Please tell me how careful I will need to be and for how long?
What emotional lows I might have?
What odd/strange/new bodily functions I might experience?

My sister (37) just had a total hysterectomy due to uterine cancer. She began to experience intense hot flashes within 2 days and had to be put on synthetic hormone therapy ( at least temporarily). She also had staples in the incision for 8 days which she said itched like crazy as it healed. I believe that she is restricted from lifting anything over 2 lbs. for 4 weeks.
I'm not really sure about any other effects, but hopefully this may give you some idea what to expect. Good luck.
