My tampon doesn't expand and leaks...?!

Question: When I put it in, no matter what size, or brand, it barely expands, if any at all, even though it's in for a few hours.. I still leak through it though.. I always wear a pad with them, just incase, but I'd just like to know why it won't expand when it's 'up there.'

I have experimenting by putting the tampons in bits of water ranging anywhere from just a few drops-to a cup-full, and they always expand..

Does anyone else have this problem?
HELP!!

I have the same problem, i could not figure out why it was happening until i finally asked a nurse....I found out that my cervix was low and the tampon was being inserted too far in to soak up the blood....

You probably are not pushing them up far enough, so try putting them up further. Tampons do not expand to huge sizes when they are inside you, though. Just make sure to change it often.

Tampons when in you will not expand the way they do in water. I have more luck though with Tampax tampons (as opposed to O.B.). You may need a higher absorbency. But make sure you do not use a higher absorbency than you need. It can lead to Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).

Well it happens try to not leave them in as long. So change them more often see if that helps. As far as them expanding there used to hold blood and once its full there no where for the blood to go so you will start to leak. I think water does that because its not what there for a water is very absorbant for somethign like that
