definitely keep pads in ur bags at all times because you never know when you will get it. also, talk to ur mom or trusted adult and ask them what they would do, i've found that that helps alot!
getting ur period shouldnt be scary, its a beautiful thing that shows that ur a woman!!
sure it can be dificult but every woman can do it, or else there would be no women left!!! lol!
hope this helps!

Well i havent had my period yet and im 13. But what i do is carry pads in my purse incase it comes while im a school. Also if you have discharge, than you can wear a pantyliner for the discharge thing and also if you get "it" then the no blood will leak through your pants.
Good Luck (:

Keep a little bag with you, keep things like pads or softcups, depending on what you want to use, in there or you can get a menstrual cup to put in before your period to save you carrying things with you.

Think about what else you may need to keep with you, such as a change of underwear, hand wipes, little scented bags to throw away disposable products if you use them, some clary sage oil to rub your tummy with if you get cramps, calendar to note when you get your period.

You can buy all sorts of kits, here are a few different kits you may want to bug your folks to buy you, or just to give you an idea of what is good to carry with you;

Learn about menstrual options, most girls think they only have a choice between tampons and pads, where as actually you have over twenty different options to choose from.
You need to know about the different options to find what works best for you, also so that you know the risks associated with some options.

You may want to stick with pads at first, try looking at cloth pads like Lunapads or organic pads like Cottons as these are healthier and far more comfortable than commercial pads, then if you want to use something internal think about using a menstrual cup like a Mooncup or Divacup.

Your first period is something to celebrate so as well as maybe talking to your mother or older sister about periods talk to your folks about how you want to celebrate.

Maybe mention to them a new outfit you'd like, or something you'd like to do like a night out or a girly sleep over with friends. It's your entry into womanhood which you'll probably remember the rest of your life so make it a good day.

If you don't feel comfortable with telling your folks face-to-face then think about leaving them a little note along the lines of;

Mom, I need to talk to you.
I want to let you know that on <date>, I started my first period. I would like to go for <activity> to talk about it/I'm not ready to talk about it yet but I'll let you know when I am.
I'd like to <activity> or have you buy me <desired item> to celebrate because I think it is important to mark the day.
I love you mom, sincerely <name>

Your periods are only as good or as bad as you make them, a lot of girls don't like there periods because they don't know enough about them so don't know how to deal with them or how to prevent problems like PMS and menstrual cramps.

As you are constantly bombarded with messages telling you that periods are bad things from other girls saying bad things or adverts where companies are using negative ideas to sell products. Blank out all the negative ideas about periods being embarrassing, dirty, smelly or inconvenient, instead it may be a good idea to look at how some women celebrate their periods, for example artists like Vanessa Tiegs ( http://spiralingmoon.livejournal.com ) or May Ling Su ( http://www.onmyperiod.com ).

Do all you can to learn about menstruation now, here are a few good web sites that you might find useful;

http://www.moonflowpower.com

just carrie a few pads around you, but you should maybe talk to your mam to see what she says.

thats if your not to embarresd to talk about it!

hope this helps!
