It facinates you because it's unknown to you. Just like we don't really WANT to look at the carnage from a car crash while passing, we're intrigued by it. Don't be ashamed... unless you're looking with malice.. you're educating yourself. We re-live, and re-view things so that history does not repeat itself.

i think in psychology it's called - cognitive dissonance. when your reaction to something is not what's expected (goes agaisnt the norm).
