Answers: i really dont know what it mean can you tell me ??????

Simply - not nice at all.

TSS is short for Toxic shock syndrome, which is a rare but potentially fatal disease caused by a bacterial toxin. Different bacterial toxins cause toxic shock syndrome, depending on the situation, normally bacteria involved are Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.

These bacteria are present naturally in most people and normally don't cause a problem, but TSS can occur from infection through the skin (e.g. cuts, surgery, burns), vagina (via tampon), or pharynx. So anyone can get TSS not just women, but TSS is most common in girls and women using tampons.

The initial symptoms of TSS are vomiting, high temperature, diarrhea, headache, sore throat, high blood pressure, and muscles aches, then you would start to get a rash a little like sunburn, progressing to broken blood vessels over the skin and in the eyes. It can kill, or at best leave the girl or woman with life-long health problems - I know several women who have had TSS, it's a bloody scary illness to have and they have to live with what it's done to them for the rest of their lives.

Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is rare but not as rare as statistics imply due to the way in which they record the evidence - for example it is only recorded in statistics if at least three of your major organs shut down, doctors also have to be able to recognise it is TSS and report it to the correct people, which often does not happen.

TSS is associated with tampons because in the 1980's tampons were produced using synthetic materials similar to the ones used in commercial tampons today, but even more absorbant. These were put on the market without safety testing first, the increase in absorbancy resulting in thousands getting TSS, they continued to sell and promote these tampons until the government stepped in to ban them.

TSS is still a very real risk because tampons have such a negative affect on vaginal health, preventing normal vaginal cleaning, giving bacteria a place to multiply within the vagina, splitting vaginal walls and leaving fibers within the vagina.

The risks are further increased in commercial tampons as they are made from absorbant synthetics that increase bacterial growth and drying of vaginal walls leading to splitting giving more growth to bacteria and a direct route for toxins into the bloodstream. Commercial tampons also contain chemicals that affect vaginal pH throwing balance of 'good' and 'bad' bacteria off.

Risks with tampons are even greater in children and teens because their bodies don't have as strong an immune system as adults, also the vaginal walls are more delicate so more prone to splitting allowing for further bacterial growth and a direct route into the blood stream for toxins resulting from TSS.

Also unlike what many people say;

TSS ISN'T CAUSED BY LEAVING TAMPONS IN TOO LONG!!

Saying this is ignorant and victim blaming by implying only dirty girls/women contract this illness which is simply not true as it's a risk for everyone. It's disgusting that people would blame the victims of TSS for contracting the illness to begin with, but then to imply they are also dirty women, that's just sickening and very worrying that so many people think that is how people contract TSS. The longer you leave the tampon in for the greater the risk as more bacteria can grow within the vagina during the extra time, but TSS can occur even if you change tampons regularly.

a disease from tampons, it gives an infection in the vagina and is caused when a tampon is used to long

toxic shock syndrome it comes from wearing a tampon for to long

TSS is toxic shock syndrome, it occurs when you use a tampon for too long. Tampons should be changed every 4 hours.

Sprout is half right,but if you leave it in too long over 8 hours you increase you risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome.
