Tampon use?!

Question: Last week, I forgot to take out my tampon and I must have left it in for 10-12 hours. I now have a type of cold that includes :

-Stuffed up nose
-Light headedness (sometimes, not always)
-When I'm one place, I feel fine. But when I move I feel like crap.
- I did vomit the first 3-4 days but I havent anymore.
-Not so severe sore throat.

I'm been taking tylenol for the past 6 or 7 days, and I just think it's the stomach flu. What do you guys think??

THANKS!!!

You leaving your tampon in for a few hours more than you should have LAST WEEK, and your sickness THIS WEEK, are completely unrelated.

You certainly do NOT have TSS, as you would have been dead already had you gotten TSS from leaving your tampon in for too long last week.

You're just plain old sick.

Maybe TSS... you also could just be sick since your vomiting and such

well you do get somekind of diesease from that better call a
doc
good luck

Go to the doctor.

Personally since the tss the makers of tampons changed the material they made, besides, if memory serves, it was only one tampon they had trouble with. I wouldn't worry about tss. It's probably just the flu, the timing is right. If you remain concerned contact your doctor. Either ask if there is still problems with tss because of tampons, or you can make an appointment with a gynecologist, as that is what you should be seeing about this.

Here is my best answer on this subject for about a month ago in regards to TSS...

I highly doubt it. The occurance of TSS in the US is EXTREMELY low, less than 40 cases per year. TSS is caused by a staph infection...(TSS is caused by the Staphylococcus aureus bacterium) It's symptoms are as follow which usually onset within two days...
High fever
Chills
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
Muscle aches
Lightheadedness or dizziness
Fatigue
Rash that resembles a sunburn
Confusion
Sudden drop in blood pressure
Blood shot eyes
Peeling of skin on palms of hands and soles of feet
Organ failure

It is assumed, though, that the Staphylococcus bacteria thrives and proliferates in warm, moist areas thereby making a high absorbency tampon the ideal breeding ground for the bacteria. The bacteria may enter your blood stream if the tampon causes a laceration in your vaginal lining. In the case of super absorbency tampons, the tampon may expand to such an extent that it sticks to the vaginal wall. Upon removal, the tampon pulls at your skin causing some of the lining to come off and the bacteria to get in.

The TSS "scare" came in 1981 and effected about 931 women. The subsequent recall of Rely brand tampons put a huge decline to the TSS concern. Apparently a material being used in these tampons were bringing on the problem.

Tampon-related TSS is considered to be a rare occurrence today.
