Two periods a month?!

Question: Hey all,

just wondering if this is normal really. Im 23, and live a healthy lifestyle. I started my periods when i was 17, and feel pregnant almost a year later, and had a termination. to prevent it happening again, i had the implant inserted in my arm. Ever since i can remember ive had 2 periods each month. Both are heavy-ish, and normally last 5days.

Possible reasons to your trouble could be abnormal thickening of the lining of the uterus that is usually caused by presence of excessive estrogen. Estrogen thickens the lining, progesterone thins it, so you need a balance in order to have regular periods.
Certain benign uterine growths could also could such problems. Firstly, the lining that covers the growths could be less stable and could be shed at the wrong time. Secondly, they (the growths) could increase the uterine lining and cause prolonged bleedings.

You should definitely see a gyno again and ask for blood tests to check for hormone levels, and maybe even an biopsy to determine if the abnormal thickening of the uterus lining is present.

It is not normal that you bleed do much, especially because you could start suffering from anemia.

P.S. Definitely have your thyroid levels checked. Thyroid dysfunction could certainly cause such problems.

it's most likely because of the Norplant. Contact your Dr and ask him

I do believe that's normal. Make sure your doctor knows. If it's something to worry about, he/she will say so.

it it a coil? because they can wreak havoc with the menstruation cycle. if your body cant take it (because you are bleeding more than you should be and your body isnt getting a full month to recover) get the implant removed and try another method.

i know this one girl who has a period every week i dont really know what causes this if i had to guess i would say over active overies
