Why is my period VERY irregular?!

Question: I started very young, when I was nine and a half. They come every two weeks (at best) sometimes they come like in a weeks time. They have worsened these past few months they used to be every three weeks. I took Yasmin tablets and they just worsened them, and they came every few days, So I stopped taking them but they are still very irregular. I don't mind if they are every three weeks as opposed to a month because I understand some people's period's come earlier. Plus I probably inherited it, as my aunties periods are very similar to mine, except mind are kind of worse. I am embarassed to go to the doctor though. I am fourteen years old.

Thank You

NEVER be embarrassed to go to the doctor. This is the person who can help you and put your mind at ease. Think, gynecologists deal with these problems all day long - they are not judgmental. It's imporant when you go to the doctor too you tell them everything that is going on so they can help you. Many times things are very simple to fix, but they can't truly help you unless they know everything. Plus, your reproductive health is really important. You are 14 now, but I guarantee you when you get older, into your 20s you will think about having a baby and you need a healthy reproductive system to do so. So, it is good to start now!! Don't worry, it's not embarrassing to go to the GYN, it's not comfortable, but they make you feel more at ease - a good one does at least.
