Hun,
Thats normal. its just the blood has been warmed up in your blader so it is a mix of blood, heat and pee. I know that sounds gross but its the truth.
hope that helps you!

mine has always smelled funny. Thats why I try to use tampons.

Maybe it's something you ate?

Use tampons to contain the smell and wash frequently!! Bring perfume and spray frequently as well because most women can't smell there blood as well as others. Rather be safe then sorry.

it doesn't smell good but it shouldn't be that disgusting...you can use wet wipes often. or use tampons. but you don't eant to use tampons just make sure you change the pad often and WET wipes ;)

Sometimes your body will smell during your period. It's very important to shower every day, and twice if you need to, during your period. Also, it's very important to change your pad or tampon at least every two hours.

It would be great if you could talk to your mom all about this, but I don't want to assume anything, not knowing your situation.

I was the same way when I was younger- I always wanted it but it is not somthing to envy others of having!!

It can be different- It does have a distinct smell that isn't pleasant but try to use tampons so the smell will decrease and if you aren't ready then use scented pads and change them often.

The funky smell may be dude to how long you wore your pad. it can also be due to the pad company. Kotex usually smells like fish after a while and always, wel i dunno how to describe it :P hope this helps!

I am thirteen and still don't have mine -_-
I really want mine to come! uggh.
But yeah I guess when you have it it becomes a pain!

But umm..
the only thing i could think of is a yeast infection..
yeast infections usually happen when you have discharge..?
like your discharge will be clumpy like cottage cheese, smell like fish and is usually very itchy down there..?

Thats the only thing I would think it might be..
If it stays there for a while i would see a doctor because if it is a yeast infection they are not curable by themselves!

this is normal. make sure you change your pad or tampon regularly, about every 3-4 hours. that way the smell wont get worse.

It's a hormonal thing...some women have a problem with menstrual odor and some don't...but it's not unusual or abnormal. Just make doubly sure you keep up on your personal hygiene during this time, and change your pad/tampon every 3-4 hours. Welcome to womanhood...it's grand, aint it? lol!

Lol, it always smells like this; don't worry, you'll get used to it!

Just make sure that you still wash down there when you can to keep yourself hygenic and to help prevent possible infection =)

hey, wash and shower like everyday and if you use pads then change them regularly, tampons can contain the smell but if you've only just started then you may not feel comfortable using them, and don't worry, you are more sensitive to the smell than anyone else :P so chances are they wont smell it

well u can start using tampons, u know the scented kind....that's what i use. and if u can try to take more than 1 shower a day, i take about 2 or 3 when i come on.

ok yes its normal for a period to smell
yes it may smell worse than normal as its your first one.

if the smell is really too strong, go see a doc as it may be a sign of infection.

frequent replacement of liners will help to reduce the smell, but be very carefull of tampons, even tho they may help more with the smell, they can cause toxic shock which can kill.

for example never buy the super strength ones if medium will do fine and never leave them in for more than 2 hrs to be safe, better to just stick with liners and some nice smelling body spray!

congrats and commiserations on becoming a woman ;)

lol i used to be the same when i was younger, i didnt start mine till i was 14, and i was like... OMG when will i start?! then i did.. so i was like... OMG when will it end lol..
anyway, im on my period now, started sunday and when i went to school today i didnt change my tampon :S so that made the smell soo much worse.. luckily no one pointed it out, but i think they noticed.
So i think that every girl gets it, just make sure you change your pad/tampon regualry and wash as often as you can, it'll be better soo lol, you'll get used to it :P
good luck
xx

it dont smell good but not that bad either
u should take a bath twice a day and change your pad at least 3 times a day

It's okey mine did that for awhile. You can use tampons that wont let the smell go out unless you leak. There are pads that you can use that don't leak have protective spots and doesn't let odor out.

You'll get use to having your period time to time, it's really hard for people who are always on the move, just always get's in your way. Good luck with it hun.

use a tampon

This is normal for some people. I have heard of girls who smell like this every single time they get their period,, but I would say unless you have weird colored discharge besides yellowish or pinkish, and unless you feel some type of infection then youre fine...everyone has different body odors and everyone's body reacts different when they get their periods.. some people don't smell and others do. I get a smell when I have my period also but it's not a fishy smell , it's just a strong odor I can't describe....so we are all just different I think it's normal.
