Help, I've just come off the pill????!

Question: Hi,

I found a lump in my breast, so the doc told me to stop taking my pill (yasmin) I got the lump checked out and all is fine, but the thing is i haven't come on my period yet, I have been with my b/f but we have always used protection. I've read a few things on the internet about it. I have been on the pill since i was 15 (I'm 19 now) I stop taking my pill early febraury and i'm still not on, I get cramps, and i think that i'll be on, but nothing ever arrives, i doubt i can be pregnant, and i'm too scared to do any tests, pregnancy at my age is not good in my family! (my sister got pregnant at 15, my mum got pregnant at 18) and i don't want to let them down! Please if you have any information you think may help and if you know of any symtoms that might occur after coming off the pill, please let me know! I'm worried, and i'm not ready for babies! I'm waaay too young!

I didn't have a period for 6 months after having the contraceptive implant taken out (it uses the same hormones as the pill). If you've been careful you shouldn't have anything to worry about but the only to make sure is to do a test. Hope this helps

I agree with one thing...you are way too young. I don't even want to know why you were on the pill when you were 15. There is such a thing as a legal age....who's the idiot doctor who actually put a underage kid on a pill is what I'd like to know. And your sis was pregnant at 15??? That's considered child abuse or statutory rape.
My rant aside...glad to hear that your lump is benign. It's normal for your periods to stop for a month or so after you quit the pill. Since you've been on the pill for 4 years it'll take about a month or two for your periods to normalize. Although as you suggested you may be pregnant. Get the test. It's better than waiting till the bump starts showing because if you are pregnant you need to see a Gynecologist and get regular check ups, take additional nutrients etc.
