I started the Nuva-ring(BC) 2 weeks ago, how do I know if it is in the right pla!

Question: My doc told me to squeeze it to make a 8 shape and put it in a tampon applicator and she said it would kinda put it's self where it should be. I wasn't able to feel it at all but today it just feels weird. I haven't had sex in a week or so.

Also I have heard that you can skip the week 4 ( when you should have your period) and just put another one in, is that safe? or would it mess up my cycle?

Thanks

As long as you cannot feel it, it is in the right place. It does not matter exactly where it is.
And yes my gyno said it was perfectly fine to use Nuvaring to skip your period like that since when you are on birth control you have a 'fake' period due to a reaction of not having the hormones for that week. I do it all the time. I only skip about 4-6 periods a year though since idk what the long term affects will be. Since I have started skipping periods, when i do get my period it is lighter and takes a few days more than usual to start.
Any other questions, feel free to email me, I have been on Nuvaring for 3 years.

As long as its staying inside of you, it's in place correctly.

As for skipping a period, the health effects of this have not really been studied. Personally, I think it's a bad idea, because you would have a period when you take it out, which means that endometrium is building in your uterus....if you don't allow yourself to have a period it could end up in other places, which is what endometriosis is. That's just my opinion though.
